Mace dried the dishes as fast as he could, but he had a little trouble keeping up. It was obvious Noah had done the housework for his brother. After their tour, Noah had even found things to clean that Mace had missed completely the night before.

“I like cleaning,” Noah said as he seemed to slow down. “My brother didn’t make me. I lived in his house and figured I had to pull my weight.”

“You can do whatever you like, but don’t be afraid to ask me to help.”

Noah handed him the last glass. “All right.”

Mace put the glass on the shelf and then put away the few things he’d had to set in the drying rack in order to keep up. “What would you like to do this evening?”

“I don’t know. I usually read.”

“You can do that.”

Noah shifted his stance, which Mace had noticed he seemed to do when he was thinking about something. “Seems kind of rude.”

“You should feel comfortable doing whatever you wish.”

“I’m a guest.”

“Yes, but you aren’t obligated to entertain me or anything.” Noah’s scent had grown more appealing throughout the day. He’d be in full heat by the next day, Mace felt sure.

“I may transform and go for a run.”

“Someone else might come across you. The wolves in our pack are good, but there are some males who’d be too tempted by an omega that’s going into heat.”

“Then run with me. I want to see your lands as a wolf.”

Mace started to object, but he didn’t relish an evening of awkward conversation on the couch either. “All right.”

They went outside and began stripping off. Noah turned away, and so did Mace. At first. He chanced a peek as Noah pulled his shirt over his head. His muscles were lean, but as Mace had thought before, he certainly wasn’t scrawny. Noah unfastened his jeans and hesitated. Mace quickly looked away and finished undressing. He transformed and turned back around to find that Noah had already changed into his wolf form.

Mace led the way and set a slow pace at first. Noah kept up with him, looking around a lot as they moved. Then they ran. At times Noah got ahead of him, and his scent proved intoxicating. Mace kept telling himself he’d have to be patient. He’d been with omegas in heat before, and the rutting was always intense and satisfying. He’d been with many an omega on nights when he’d wanted to be with Gideon. But Noah would be different. There was no way around that.

They came to the river, and Noah bounded right into the water. He went below the surface, and when he came up, he’d changed back to human form.
